Hi I am Steve from Spotlight Entertainments NZ.

I started my career as a DJ back in 1989, taking over a party that was not going well. From that point on I bought myself some turntables, lights and speakers and started playing at different venues.

In the mid-nineties I joined a successful entertainment agency in London and worked my way to the top and was the agencies number one DJ.

Whilst with that agency, I worked at many top venues in London and surrounding areas. The functions that I covered included birthdays, engagements, wedding parties and corporate black tie dinner/dances.

I have spent the past five years upgrading my equipment to a very high standard. This enables me to play at all types of venues, regardless of size.

I have a wide range of lighting to capture all types of moods. These range from lasers to uplighters, scanners to flame machines.

I carry in excess of 20,000 tracks spanning seven decades and so I can cater for a wide variety of tastes. You are welcome to submit a request list prior to your function and I am happy to take requests on the evening – you have total control over the music.

I also offer a Free Photo CD Service, where I take photos, which are displayed on a small screen, and then you get a CD containing them so you have a permanent record of the evening. Or Free Up-lighting where, in addition to the usual high-standard light show, I will provide uplighters to illuminate the walls of the room that the disco is taking place in, creating a lovely ambiance. Standard setup

DJ Eric AKA the Wedding Ginga Looking for that something a little different for your wedding or corporate function. Wanting to have some live background music for canapes but to kick off the shoes and dance later in the night. Usually you would have to pay through the teeth for this type of scenario but not with Eric the Entertainer.
 
Eric the Entertainer provides the perfect option. Not only will you get a professional DJ with over 15 years experience in Christchurch and Canterbury but you also get an acoustic soloist who has been on the Christchurch music scene since he was in High School. Eric has performed with the likes of Jason Kerrison from Op Shop and Nathan King formally of Zed and has appeared on TV shows such as What Now and Telethon.

Eric originally trained at the New Zealand broadcasting school so brings the professional edge of live radio to his Gigs. He has amazing music knowledge and uses this to read the crowd and play the right music at the right time to ensure everyone has a great time.

He can also step in and provide MC services if required, and has hosted Bingo and Quiz nights as well as many other large events.

Hired Eric for the first time last night at our Xmas function – excellent. Adjusted music to suit the crowd – in the end other people not with our party asked to join in because they liked the music he played so much. Definitely hire him again! John McKenzie – Archibalds

About DJ Kere

I started my career working for Christchurch Discos under my mentor DJ Joe. I started off working with him at The Bush Bar. I stayed with Christchurch Discos for a couple of years working at various bars.

From there I worked for Canterbury Entertainment for about 3 years. Our main events were private functions, Weddings, Birthdays etc. While I was with them, I became their number 1 DJ, thanks to Paul and Sam my private functions expertise grew.

With my main job commitments growing, I retired for a short time but still did the odd request job for Canterbury Entertainment. When I changed my job I went back into Mobile DJing. I  soon started working for Night Shift Discos, subcontracted by Playtime Promotions, working in bars, private functions and schools throughout Canterbury, where I have been working for the past 8 years.

I am very excited to be taking what I have learnt over the past 15 years and starting my own DJ Business.

Music

The right music for the right party can do wonders for a great night out.  I carry what is known as a “basic music list”.  All the greats from Abba to Black Eye Peas, Andy Kim to Pearl Jam in fact you’d be surprised at what I have.

From keeping your old folks to the young ones happy, isn’t an easy task especially when music is involved. So when choosing music to play on the night I use a rotation system to keep everyone happy. It’s a proven system that works. playing songs that everyone knows and can either sing along or dance to, then to mix up throw in the rare song so others in your party can enjoy as well.  This way everyone gets what they want.

More importantly I play within the rules of the night from the bookings. What that means is if you want a certain type of music to be played or don’t want to be played I will respect that.

I have been DJing  34 years now and cater for a wide variety of music ranging from the 50`s,60`s ,70`s,80`s 90`s to up to date Chart music.

I specialise in House, Old skool rave,  DnB, Soul ,Jazz Funk, Rare Groove, RNB, Funky Disco House and ran a pirate  radio station with my friends, for 6 years in London

I was resident DJ for Que-Passa wine bars and Namco corporate function bar (Namco the makers of Pac-Man) Next to the London eye, for 5 years. I provided music for many Sarchi & Sarchi (Advertising agency) functions and weddings.

Prior the Christchurch earthquakes I was resident DJ at the Taproom on the strip and The Ivy Bar in Merivale.

I have a very good sounding P.A system with sound to light and lasers. I use a computer system with thousands of tracks and requests can be found quickly.
